No drivers for Windows 8 or Mac Maverick

Only generic drivers are available on Windows 8 which do not allow you to use not only the extra stuff (faxing, scanning, address book), but some basic printer functions such as selecting the paper source. Forget about telling it to use the multifunction tray. Until the changes in operating systems, it has been a good printer, with only occasional jams and the usual expensive cartridges.

Customer service issues

I have had the 6180MFP for about 5 years. It works well for our needs. however, once you are out of warranty it is nearly impossible to get anything other than toner for your machine. I got transferred a minimum of 4 times to find out I had to pay $25 to talk to someone about the part I needed. their customer service is not user friendly

Phaser 6180 MFP

LOVE this machine! It is a workhorse! Have had it in our 2 man office since 1/2008 and it is still going strong. .95K copies... Replaced the drum & fuser myself and not hard at all. Looks new... Won't want to give it up!

Great All in One

I have had this machine now for almost 3 years. I am just now replacing two color cartridges, and 2 set of black cartridges. All in all this is a great machine. Easy to use and reliable. The only downside to this is the ink is pricy and if you don't have a extended warranty tech support is really PRICY!!!!! Other than that it does great photos, and scanning is a snap!.

OK printer, but they still haven't solved the 2003 problems

Prints with speed. Decent color quality. Not good for photos. Eats up envelopes, which has been a problem since 2003 and was never remedied and Xerox won't service it, so you can't use for mailings. Also, scanning is extremely slow and unstable and can only be done when network connection is USB. Xerox should fix these problems.

Have had two of the machine

After about 1 1/2 years the "mother board" died and it was cheaper to purchase a new machine then to fix the existing printer. Since I had $400 of toner I was stuck with purchasing another identical machine. Now approximately 2 years later I have an issue with color printing in which the repair will be 75% of the cost of purchasing another identical machine. Bottom line the machine works well when it works, but it would nice if its life cycle based on 1000-2000 pages a month was longer than 18-20 months. Excellent Level II factory support, Level I was not helpful. Great functionality only downside is reliability needs to be better. I would pay another $200 or $300 for same features if it would net greater reliability. A machine that is reliabile for 3-5 years minimum is my expectation.

Hit or miss.

I bought six of these in December of 2007 for deployment as a public printer at small branches (<15 total computers) of a regional public library. Three have performed flawlessly and reliably. The other three have complained of fatal failures requiring a power cycle to clear and had the display on the control panel fail completely or exhibit severe streaking and have printed less than 20,000 pages. Toner cost per page is a tad high for my liking and replacement fuser and transfer unit components cost more than a new unit. This is my first purchase of Xerox products and so far I am unimpressed with their robustness and longevity.

Not Mac OS Lion SMB compatible

Spoke to xerox sales before purchase to make sure it is Mac OS Lion SMB scan compatible and was told it is. IT WASN'T. Called Xerox tech and they confirmed it is not SMB 2 compatible. Would not have purchased it.
