The tray specified on the front panel is empty. The printer can still print from the other trays. On the front panel of the printer, press the i button to view information about the front panel message.
To load paper in the tray:
Pull the specified tray
completely out of the printer.

Fan the paper to release
sheets that may be stuck together.

Insert a stack of paper
in the tray. Place the side to be printed faceup
with the top of the paper entering
the printer first. For two-sided
printing, place the side to be printed facedown
with the bottom of the paper entering
the printer first. For additional
information about loading paper, go to
Reference/Printing on the User Documentation CD-ROM.

Note: Observe
the fill lines on the side of the tray. Do not load paper above the paper
fill line; it may cause the printer to jam. Do not load transparencies
above the transparency fill line.

If necessary, press the
sides of the width guides inward, then slide the guide firmly against
the paper.

If necessary, press the
sides of the length guide inward, then slide the guide firmly against
the paper.

Insert the tray into
the tray slot and push it completely to the back of the printer.

When the Confirm Tray # Paper (where # is the number of the tray specified on the front panel) message displays, verify that the paper size and type match the size and type of the paper in the tray.
If the paper size and type in the message match the size and type of the paper in the tray, press the OK button.
If the paper size and type in the message do not match the size and type of the paper in the tray, select the correct size and type on the front panel.
If you loaded custom size
paper in the tray, you must set the size in the front panel. For more
information about loading custom size paper, go to Reference/Printing/Custom
Sizes on the User Documentation
CD-ROM.

Caution: The
type of paper you load in the tray must be the same as the type you specified
on the front panel of the printer. If you fail to do this, print-quality
problems can occur and the fuser can be damaged.
For additional information about loading paper, go to Reference/Printing on the User Documentation CD-ROM.
