Shipping a Phaser® 440 and 450 Printers
|
Follow the steps below
if you are sending your printer to Tektronix® for service.
- Obtain a Return
Authorization Number (RMA#) from the Tektronix Service Center. In the U.S.
and Canada call 1-800-835-6100. Outside the U.S. and Canada, contact your
local Tektronix dealer or sales representative; see the Local Contacts area on the World
Wide Web.
Note: You
must have a Return Authorization Number (RMA#) before returning a printer.
You will need to write this Return Authorization Number (RMA#) on all cartons
you ship to Tektronix.
- Locate the original
Tektronix printer, accessories and consumables carton(s) and packing materials.
Note:You must ship the printer in its Tektronix shipping box. If you
do not have the original carton and packing materials, call the Customer Support
Hotline in the U.S at 1-800-835-6100 or the Supplies phone number in Canada
at 1-800-661-5625 to order replacement packaging using part number 065-0541-00.
Packing Instructions
- Turn off the
printer; remove all cords and cables.
- Remove the paper
tray(s); pack them for shipping or storage.
- If you have
a Lower Tray Assembly:
- Disconnect
the Lower Tray Assembly cable from the printer.
- Lift the
printer up and away from the Lower Tray Assembly.
- Repack the
Lower Tray Assembly in its original carton.

- Push the printer's
button to open the top cover.
- Remove the transfer
roll from the tray and pack it for shipping or storage. The transfer roll
tray remains inside the printer.
- Replace the
packing material (the foam blocks connected by a red strip) on both sides
of the drum.
- Open the front
cover panel by pulling it forward.
- Replace the
foam sheets inside the top cover and the front cover panel; secure the foam
sheets to the printer with adhesive tape.
- Close the top
cover and the front cover panel. Secure the top and front covers with adhesive
tape.
- Repack the printer
in the Tektronix carton. Keep the printer level when moving it.
Note: To
keep your warranty valid, you must ship the printer in its Tektronix shipping
box with the appropriate packing materials. If you do not have the original
carton and packing materials, see the beginning of this article
for ordering information.
- Write the Return
Authorization Number (RMA#) on a sheet of paper. Attach this sheet to the
top of the printer with adhesive tape.
- Write the Return
Authorization Number (RMA#) on the outside of all cartons.
- Ship the printer
(and consumables and accessories, if requested by Tektronix Service) to the
appropriate address.
