Cleaning the fuser rollers If you are using shiny or smooth paper, you may occasionally see spots of ink in the white portion of the printed image, or you may notice that areas of the image are missing. These print defects can indicate that ink is being transferred from the printed paper to the fuser roller. To correct the problem, first try these quick steps: Quick Steps Use a less shiny type of paper. Make several test prints on standard office Bond paper (laser printer or photocopy paper). To do this, press the TEST PRINT button on the front panel. Be sure to load the paper so that the long side of the paper enters the printer first, as shown. You should see a repeating pattern of ink spots on the blank part of the paper, indicating that the ink has transferred from the fuser onto the paper. If the problem persists, replace the fuser wiper (refer to "Changing the fuser wiper" for details). If the problem continues, follow these procedures: Procedure A: Enter Utilities mode and clean the fuser with blank paper. Procedure B: Enter Utilities mode and clean the fuser roller with the fuser cleaning pad.
