PhaserLink Demonstration

PhaserLink Demonstration

Welcome to this demonstration of the PhaserLinkTM Printer Software. PhaserLink software is a link to your Xerox OPB printers, providing status, configuration and reference information through a web browser such as you are using now. Once you start the demo, you will be communicating with this information in the same way you would with a Phaser® printer. Hence, to get back to this screen, you will have to use the "Back" or "GoTo" options of your browser.

To allow you to navigate among the printer's internal pages without having to return to the printer's Status page, all of the printer's internal pages have a common format:

At the top of the page is a header containing a picture of the printer, its model number, the name of the page, and the printer's assigned name(s).
The content of the middle section of the page is different for each page.

The icon buttons at the bottom of the page allow you to navigate to other internal Web pages to access various kinds of printer information. Each page presented by the PhaserLink software has a button bar across the bottom that looks like this. These allow you to choose the major functions you want from the PhaserLink software in the printer. When you start the demo, just as when you first connect to a PhaserLink-equipped printer, you will see the status page. You can use the Status button to get back to that page from any other. Each of these five buttons are described in more detail below.

This button returns you to the status page that is the starting point for PhaserLink printers. Contains read-only printer status at the time the page was requested. Status messages are not automatically updated while the page is displayed. If an option is not installed, no parameters are displayed for that option.

This button takes you to the configuration page, which has links to all the configuration settings that can be made. For the purposes of this demo, a blank password will return the error you would get not knowing the password. Any non-blank password will be accepted and responded to as though the configuration change had occurred. For more information on these parameters and what they mean, see Printer parameters available through PhaserLink.

This button leads you to the help page, where you can send diagnostic pages to the printer. It also contains the local help link that could be used to link to your organization's help desk web page. We have included a ficticious company's pages as an example.
Allows you to print out the printer's internal help pages (for example: start page, configuration page, sampler pages, demo pages).
Allows you to download a PostScript error handler to the printer for help in diagnosing printing problems.
Contains a link to the Xerox OPB Color Printer Web server for on-line help and technical support.
Allows you to define a link from the printer's web pages to your local web server. You can use this link to supply your own site-specific on-line help information.

This button takes you to the page that provides you with links back to the support pages at Xerox OPB, including online manuals and useful tips and techniques.
