Phaser 5550 4.3 5 29 30 Phaser 5550 died within one year and Xerox won't do anything about it We purchased a Xerox Phaser 5550 and just after a year it stopped working. We paid hundreds of dollars to a Xerox certfied technician to repair it and ultimately was told by Xerox that it was not repairable and basically trash. We had not even changed the toner cartridge in this printer yet as it had very little prints on it when it died. I am extremely dissatisfied with how Xerox handled our concerns and complaints and will NEVER purchase a Xerox printer again! January 20, 2012 This product is perfect for our offsize wall certificates. We are happy with our Phaser 5550. The only drawback we have is that the certificates are slightly curled when they come out of the printer. This is mainly due to the fact that this model does not have a side rack. The certificates curl as they go through the printer and feed out the top. October 25, 2011 great workhorse We have this printer and i believe we average about 10,000 pages per printer per week in one of our areas during the beginning of school and each finals week. There are a total of 6 printers and the never go down. So glad we switched from you know who to Xerox in our lab. October 25, 2011 Ease of Use The web interface to the Xerox Phaser 5550DT printer provides administrators with information that they require to administer the printer. Job accounting logs provide a complete description of all jobs that have coompleted printing. October 25, 2011 Good printer, but needs hardened electronics and more durable duplexer. We have had this printer for almost 2 years now and have enjoyed most of it. Quick prints, duplex and the extra trays are wonderful. Over that time, however, we've had to replace the duplexer unit twice and replace the RAM at least 3 times because of "RAM Error" message on the screen. This happens periodically when the power blips out. Our printer rep said that it is best to have these units plugged directly into the wall and not into a battery backup because of the draw of power from the fuser heating up. I'm contemplating having to spend a good chunk on a big enough battery backup for this printer so we don't keep having to replace the RAM. I'd give this printer a 4.5 star rating if it didn't have these issues. October 18, 2011 The printer that can't be killed. Nearing 1.5 MILLION impressions .... and still printing like crazy! Other than routine consumables/maintenance the only thing we have ever done to this printer is replace a $12 pickup roller on the high capacity feeder around the 1M page mark, I've never owned a printer that even got in the neighborhood of 1.5m mark and only cost $12 bucks in parts. Sure, the drum is a little pricey, but the toner cost is VERY low compared to others, so it definitely balances out. April 17, 2011 Reliable workhorse Very fast, reliable. Did 70.000 prints in one month with just one toner. Paper jams are very rare. Excellent price per print ratio. March 25, 2011 This is a graet printer I have used this printer for over one year now.
